Did my salary negotions today.
Overall I’m happyish, but I could have gotten more if I’d realized something.
February is the only month with 4 weeks. Each other month has MORE than 4 weeks. I did not account for this when I was doing the math on money stuff. That mistake cost me four weeks worth of salary, which basically means I went into negotiations thinking I would have to do some major convincing to get the number I wanted, but really.... I was only asking for pennies over my bosses offer. He accepted pretty quick as you can imagine.
Tough lessons are good lessons I suppose!

Credit where credit is due, at least you could get a raise above what is offered. I asked my boss for a raise and/or to take some tasks off my plate that were usually reserved for a much cheaper position and I got told that I wasn’t worth that much because I did those cheap tasks but also that there were no plans to take those tasks off my plate...
Needless to say, I have since gotten a new job that I start tomorrow!

So basically you’re getting paid 11 months out of the year what you want and then youll have all of July off every year. I like it.

Having a fallback plan has really helped me advocate for myself. If others aren’t willing to pay what I think I’m worth, no sweat. I’ll stay long enough to learn something new, then move on. Haven’t tried asking for a raise yet... Just entry level monies. Good luck at the new place!

A 52 week/13 month year is much easier to work out than working pcm. It’s how I pay my lads, mainly because it’s so much cleaner and easier when you can pay at the end of a full 4 weeks rather than having to pay whenever the month end falls.
